STRATOVARIUS To Film 'Maniac Dance' Video This Week

April 11, 2005

Finnish melodic metallers STRATOVARIUS have completed work on their new album, tentatively due later in the year via Sanctuary Records. The band will shoot a video for the song "Maniac Dance" in mid-April with director Antti Jokinen (BEYONCÉ, WYCLEF JEAN, KORN, MISSY ELLIOT, NIGHTWISH, SHANIA TWAIN, CELINE DION).

"We just got the video treatment from Antti, this will turn out to be amazing!" commented keyboardist Jens Johansson.

"The video song and first single is called 'Maniac Dance', it should allow Antti's creative madness to bloom. And I hope you trust me when I say this will be nothing like MISSY ELLIOT or CELINE DION."

With regards to the recording/mixing process, STRATOVARIUS mainman Timo Tolkki said, "As you all may know, this album has not been born the usual way. In fact, almost everything has been different this time. Some of the songs have been very hard to mix (and the annoying parking garage construction under the studio with huge explosions every day adding the 'flavor') and some have been easy.

"The material sounds fresh and new. Some people will be quite surprised, I must say."

STRATOVARIUS will be teaming up with INTO ETERNITY for a North American tour beginning in mid-September.
